The Society of Safe-Driving’s i Taiwan Rally Team will represent Taiwan in the 30th Asia Cross Country Rally 2025, set to take place in Thailand starting August 8, 2025. To mark the occasion, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) held a flag presentation ceremony on July 31. Minister of Foreign Affairs Jaushieh Joseph Wu personally presented the national flag to Society Chairman Chen He-Huang , offering best wishes to the entire team—including society members and three active-duty firefighters—for a smooth and safe journey and a triumphant competition. Director-General Hsiao Huan-Chang of the National Fire Agency, Ministry of the Interior, also attended and presented a fire service flag, expressing his heartfelt support and encouragement.
In his remarks, Minister Wu emphasized that Taiwan’s civic groups and outstanding enterprises play an indispensable role in “holistic diplomacy.” He expressed gratitude to all “Team Taiwan” partners for their efforts in promoting the Taiwan brand internationally. With passion and sportsmanship, they bring honor to the nation on the global stage.
The Minister further noted that Taiwan, as a “force for good,” promotes international cooperation across sectors such as fire safety, demonstrating not only the effectiveness of values-based diplomacy, but also the strength of value-added diplomacy. Through platforms like APEC and the Global Cooperation and Training Framework (GCTF), Taiwan has collaborated with like-minded countries including the United States, Japan, Australia, and Canada to share expertise and work on disaster prevention and relief. Taiwan has also trained fire service personnel and provided equipment operation training for New Southbound Policy countries.
In addition, MOFA is working with domestic fire agencies to advocate for the establishment of an international organization in Taiwan centered on disaster response and rescue expertise, aiming to strengthen Taiwan’s social resilience and contribute to global well-being.
The Asia Cross Country Rally is a prestigious FIA-sanctioned international off-road motorsport event and one of the most challenging and large-scale rallies in Asia. MOFA will continue to encourage Taiwanese civil society to embody the spirit that “everyone is a diplomat,” enabling the world to see Taiwan’s dynamism and values.
